The eighth-annual Katy Jazz Festival will take place April 29 & 30 at Katy High School, located at 6331 Highway Blvd. This unique jazz experience features jazz performances from student groups as well as World-Class Jazz Professionals. The Festival is dedicated to the development and preservation of jazz music, and provides entertainment for the entire family.
The Evening Feature Concert on Friday night opens at 7:30 p.m. with professional jazz pianist, The Pamela York Trio. Friday night’s headliner is world famous drummer Will Kennedy and the MSM Jazz Orchestra directed by Noe Marmolejo. Saturday evening performances include the Katy ISD All-Star Jazz Band, followed by this year’s HEADLINER group, The Yellowjackets – an unsurpassed professional ensemble that tours throughout the world with frequent stops in New York City, Los Angeles, and a recent tour of China. Prior to the Feature Concerts on each evening, the smooth vocalizations of Mr. Horace Grigsby will take place in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center at 6:30 PM.
